The beginings

The official beginning of Rovinj tourism can be considered the year 1888, when the air and health resort "Maria Theresia Seehospitz" was opened. Adults, young people and children from all over the Austro-Hungarian Empire, Germany, Russia and many other European countries came here to relax and to recover.

Town

Rovinj is a picturesque town, with narrow, cobbled streets, colorful facades that many visitors find that it has a very Italian touch. The city was originally an island. About 250 years ago, the narrow canal that separated them from the mainland was filled in. Increasingly, Rovinj-Rovigno has become a second home or one of their favorite destinations on the Croatian Adriatic for many guests.

Rovinj - Rovigno also known as the Croatian "Venice"

History has also left its mark here in Rovinj. For a little more than 500 years, the city was part of the Republic of Venice. Rovinj-Rovigno is officially bilingual, with Croatian and Italian administration. The locals in Rovinj speak a very special dialect. Often a sentence is started in Italian, an Istrian dialect is added, and then finished in Croatian. This and much more breathes a bit of Italian flair into your stay.
